Edward V. Grund, CSP, PE is President of Grund Consulting, Inc. focusing on lockout, confined space and related litigation services. He received a BS from the University of Maryland in Industrial Technology and an MS in Safety Science from the University of Southern California. His career includes managing the global EHS programs for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical, American Metal Climax, Inc. and American National Can. He has chaired the ANSI Z117 Confined Space and ANSI Z244 Lockout/Tagout and Alternative Methods Committees for over 10 years. He is the author of the National Safety Council text “ Lockout/Tagout and the Process of Controlling Hazardous Energy” and text co-author of “The Battle for the Control of Hazardous Energy”. Mr. Grund served as a key Committee member of the ANSI 1982 Lockout Standard that OSHA used as a primary reference for its current lockout standard. He received the ASSE President’s award and Bresnahan Medal for his career service in standards development. He currently chairs the ANSI Z244 Lockout, Tagout and Alternative methods ASC.
